Politics affects the life of every individual citizen

The two issues which have caused more arguments, fights and wars than any other is politics and religion. Politics affects the life of every citizen within the community.

Politics is the struggle for power over another individual or over another political entity. It is a clash of an individual’s or a groups desires for power. One political group may try to restrain the power of another.

The word “politics” literally means affairs of the cities. Political powers of the state can be used for good and bad. Laws passed by the political group can benefit the life of some and harm the life of another.

We need to protect our communities and individual citizens and the political collective of everyone in the community makes that possible.

Politics is power over others

When the desire of one individual is to benefit themselves over the needs of the community, the other citizens of the community have a need to restrain that individual. Checks and balances need to be in place to keep the desires of one or two from overriding the desires of the community.

Politics affects the life of individual citizens through the laws enacted by the political collective of the community. In order for us to have control over our own lives, we must be politically active.

Political propaganda is designed to sway the views of individual citizens in order for them to support or oppose the issue. The less knowledge the individual has on the particular issue easier it is to manipulate them.

The citizen’s responsibility

The individual citizen has a responsibility to educate themselves on the issues affecting their individual lives. We need to communicate those concerns to their elected political representatives in government.

We have a responsibility to ourselves and to our communities to play an active role in the decision making of our leaders. If we fail to take that responsibility, those in political office will not see any limits to their power.
